Obesere set to perform at Yoruba Cultural Day in Germany

Top Fuji singer Alhaji Abass Akande, popularly known as Obesere, will perform at the Yoruba Cultural Day 2019, holding on 21 September in the German city of Munich. Fuji is a popular Nigerian musical genre.

Also billed to perform at the event are Afro Melody and the renowned German ‘Bata’ drummer Anselm Ayantunde (aka Oyibo Alubata).

The event, organized by the Yoruba Elite Club in conjunction with Jaiyeola Promotions, will also feature traditional and contemporary Nigerian dances, a drumming workshop, a fashion show and an award presentation, among other activities.

The Yoruba Cultural Day brings Yoruba as well as non-Yoruba people together to promote a general interest in Yoruba culture.

Yoruba people are an ethnic group native to south-western and north-central Nigeria as well as southern and central Benin. They are believed to number over 40 million people, majority of whom are Nigerians.

Constituting about 21% of Nigeria’s population, Yoruba  are one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa.
