Winners of the 2021 Africa Tech Festival Awards announced

Tobi Lafinhan, a Nigerian, has a background in civil engineering combined with over 4 years of experience working in leading organisations in West Africa across a variety of industries, including tech. He is currently the Co-founder of Venture for Africa, a fellowship program designed to fill talent gaps in Africa’s startup ecosystem by enabling top local and global fellows to access opportunities at leading startups in Africa/Photo: Venture for Africa

The Africa Tech Festival Awards 2021, attended by more than 19,000 delegates and featuring more than 300 speakers, highlights how active the technology and telecommunications community is across Africa.

Though this year’s event, held on 8 – 12 November, was fully virtual, the annual expo and congress traditionally takes place in Cape Town, South Africa.

Along with its two anchor events, AfricaCom and AfricaTech, Africa Tech Festival is the largest and most influential tech event in Africa. For 24 years, the event has informed and connected the business leaders, tech experts, policymakers and investors in Africa.

Winners of the various categories of Africa Tech Festival Awards were announced during the five-day conference.

Africa Tech Festival 2021 Winners are:
Connectivity Project of the Year Award: Mauritius Telecom
Africa’s Rising Star Award: Tobi Lafinhan, cofounder of Venture for Africa
Fintech Innovation of the Year Award OtangU – Eat Now Pay Later
Most Innovative Product/Service Award: Mauritius Telecom & Huawei
Building a better, more inclusive digital world Award: Orange Digital Center
Green ICT Champion Award: Ericsson
CXO of the Year: Brelotte BA, CEO, Orange Mali
Female Innovator 2021: Diana Wilson, CEO, Yielding Accomplished African Women.

Africa Tech Festival will hopefully hold as a physical event in Cape Town, South Africa from 7–11 November 2022.
