Google for Startups is inviting applications for its Black Founders Fund in Europe, an initiative to provide financial resources to early-stage startups founded by people of African descent across Europe.
“Black founders in Europe disproportionately lack access to the networks and capital needed to grow their businesses. In 2020, with less than 0.5% of venture capital (VC) funding going to Black-led startups,” the tech giant said, explaining the reason for the Black Founders Fund.
The fund is designed to help grow Black-founded tech businesses with a live product in-market or a startup for which technology is core to its mission. It’s not for consultancies or not-for-profits.
The grant size starts from $10,000 to $100,000. In addition to the cash awards and credits, successful founders will be connected with the best of Google’s products, practices and people.
Since its inception Black Founders Fund in Europe has awarded more than $2 million to beneficiaries.
Eligibility Criteria: If your product is in market and you’re ready to fundraise they want to hear from you. The Black Founders Fund is intended for startups led by founders who self-identify as Black and are based in Europe.
