African women discuss technology in Berlin

Women in Tech Week 2019, an event that celebrates women globally in the technology and entrepreneurship space, will hold in Berlin, Germany, on 9 October.

Organised by Women in Tech Africa and sponsored by SAP SE – the German multinational software corporation that makes software for the management of business operations, the theme of this year’s event is “Scaling Technology in Africa”.

The conference, according to the organizers, will welcome attendees to a day of talks, panel discussions and workshops centred on ‘Women, Leadership, Technology, Innovation, Entrepreneurship and the African Continent’.

Speakers and moderators expected at the event include Charlotte Otter, Vice President, Executive and Employee Communications at SAP SE; Alexandra Van Der Ploeg, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility, SAP SE; Maria-Theresa S. Kadushi, Founder, M-Ayfa and COO Safe Space; and Ansela Manful, co-founder of My Career Path, a career coaching and recruitment company in Berlin, among others.

Kadushi is a Tanzanian innovator working to disrupt the public health sector in Africa to normalize mental health and leverage innovative technology to save lives.

 

Otter is a communications leader at SAP with more than 25 years’ experiences across industries and sectors. She believes that the power of a story is the foundation of all successful marketing and communications.

Van der Ploeg is responsible for setting the strategic direction of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) at SAP focused on bringing to life the company’s higher purpose of “helping the world run better and improving people’s lives” through strategic partnerships and programs that deliver sustainable social impact and long-term business value.

Women in Tech Africa has a membership of over 5,000 across 30 countries globally with 12 chapters in Africa – Ghana, Nigeria, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Somalia, Germany, Ireland, Britain, Kenya, Tanzania, Mauritius, and Cape Verde.

Women in Tech Africa is the 2018 recipient of the United Nations Equals Award for Leadership in the Women and Technology Space.

The event co-sponsored by SAP Business Women’s’ Network (BWN) Berlin chapter and partnered by Strategic Partnership Digital Africa, GreenTec Capital Africa Foundation and enpact, will be attended by top-ranking individuals across Africa, including executives, female tech entrepreneurs and women aspiring to STEM careers.
