Afrolynk and GIZ partner to support WIDU digital platform

Afrolynk is an Impact Venture that supports innovation, connects and accelerates, together with start-ups, entrepreneurs, investors, venture capitalists, SMEs, cooperation and organizations that are connected to the EU-African market.

As part of the Accelerate pillar of the operations, it has partnered with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to carry out the WIDU project in Ghana.

The WIDU Platform is an initiative of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The project redirects existing remittances into sustainable investments for start-ups and small businesses. WIDU enables transparent and efficient management of the projects for all participants.

The WIDU is a EUR 13 million project to facilitate, track and subsidize small private business investments in Africa.

In addition to financial support from the Diaspora, sponsored entrepreneurs receive free coaching measures and a grant from WIDU. The goal is the creation of new jobs, increased income and better economic perspectives for Ghana and Cameroon. The two countries are serving the purpose of the pilot implementation for a period of nine (9) months.

The role of Afrolynk is to provide coaching to entrepreneurs to ensure effective and efficient use of resources. As a result, trained coaches across the country are engaged to give the necessary assistance to entrepreneurs who are enrolled onto the platform.
