Dr Priscillia M. Manjoh, a Berlin-based author, has been bestowed with “The Mount Cameroon Literary Grand Prize 2023”. The Cameroon-born novelist impressed the jury with her novel Angri leading to her being chosen among the 40 nominees for the prestigious award.

The national prize, under the patronage of the Association of Cameroonian Poets and Writers, was launched in 2022 and honours top-class writers in Cameroon and its diaspora. It is a competition in which renowned authors participate. The jury, which is chaired by the Minister of Justice, is made up of university lecturers in literature and experienced writers.

Manjoh convinced the jury of the award with her latest novel ‘Agri’

This prize, dedicated to novels, short stories, poetry and short stories, promotes the place of literature in Cameroon, a country where football is much more popular.

The famous author Djaili Amal Amadou won the prize last year with her novel ‘Coeur du Sahel’, which translates as ‘The Heart of Sahel’.
