In addition to its Business and Economy Class, Brussels Airlines now offers a new choice on its intercontinental flights: Economy Plus. The airline’s customers who fly to Africa, the US or Canada now have the choice out of three classes instead of two.
Economy Plus is Brussels Airlines’ answer for passengers travelling in Economy Class who want a comfort upgrade at a low fare. To celebrate the launch, the airline will upgrade 20,000 of its customers for free in July and August.
Economy Plus travellers sit in the first 4 rows of the Economy Class cabin and can enjoy more leg room and relax in an Economy seat that reclines 20 degrees instead of 8 degrees for optimal comfort. Before their meal they get treated to a glass of champagne and luxury items like an amenity kit, a hot towel, a linen pillow and a Neuhaus chocolate giftbox.
To travel in Economy Plus, passengers pay a supplement of €120 per one-way. This price is available to everyone, even if they bought the lowest Economy Class fare. For the launch, a special discovery rate of €99 is now available. 20,000 lucky holiday makers and businessmen who have a flight coming up in July or August have received a complimentary upgrade to be the first to test the new Economy Plus class.
”We see an increasing demand for a product between Business Class and Economy Class. Our new Economy Plus offers more space, more comfort and more amenities at a very attractive price. After implementing our new commercial strategy successfully for short-haul flights, we are now starting to implement a new product generation also on our long-haul flights. More innovations are already in the pipeline,” said Lars Redeligx, Chief Commercial Officer of Brussels Airlines.
On every Airbus 330 aircraft, the airline offers 32 Economy Plus seats on the first 4 rows of the Economy Class cabin, or 18,000 seats on a yearly basis.
Next to the Economy Plus seats, Brussels Airlines has upgraded all Economy Class seats of the A330 fleet for more comfort. Based on feedback from their customers and a thorough testing of the seats, the airline concluded that the combination of the backrest and the headrest did not offer ideal comfort for long flights and has now replaced the entire backrests for better support and the best comfort.
