The Belgium Luxembourg Nigeria Chamber of Commerce (BLNCC) will hold a reception for Nigeria’s new Ambassador to Belgium, HE Obinna Chiedu Onowu, on Friday, 3 September.
“Envisioned as a semi-formal, yet convivial event the Ambassador Meet & Greet is a forum for the new Ambassador to meet business leaders in the first instance but also other relevant stakeholders and interest groups and individuals,” the BLNCC said in a statement jointly signed by Chris Dahi, Director Media & Publicity, and Collins Nweke, Director Business Development.
Among those expected to attend the event, which will hold in the gardens of the Embassy of Nigeria in Brussels, are business people with investments in Nigeria and those contemplating doing business with the country, representatives of trade associations and officials of relevant government bodies, among others.
Keynote speakers include Ambassador Onowu, Mr Chris Amssoms, President of BLNCC, and Mr Pierre Vanderbeeck, former President of BLNCC and Chairman of SIAT Group of Companies who will talk about his over 40 years of investment activities in Nigeria.
The function therefore provides a platform for the Ambassador to interact with the investing community on the opportunities available in Nigeria while communicating the policies of his government.
Ambassador Onowu, who is concurrently accredited to The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the European Union, has indicated that trade and investment would be the major focus of his work.
While presenting his Letter of Credence to King Philipe I of Belgium recently, he said: “there is a need to strengthen collaboration especially in the areas of trade and investment, capacity building, Education, Health and Information Technology in a bid to deepen economic ties between both nations.”
While entry to the event is free, pre-registration (online via www.BLNCC.eu) is compulsory.
