Nigeria’s vice president to visit Germany on investment campaign

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo will pay a working visit to Germany on 9-11 December. He will meet with Nigerians, speak at a business event and hold talks with German leaders during the 3-day visit, which aims to promote Nigeria as a favourable place to invest.

Prof Osinbajo will hold a town hall interactive meeting with Nigerians living in Germany on Sunday, 9 December. He is expected to seek the support of Diaspora Nigerians for the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari at the event, which will hold at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski in Berlin.

The Nigerian leader will speak at an investment conference on Monday, 10 December in Berlin at the same venue.  Organised by Afrika-Verein, an association of German companies with interest in Africa, the one-day Nigerian-German Business Dialogue brings the Vice President, accompanied by senior government officials and business leaders, together with German business executives interested in investing in and trading with Africa’s biggest economy.

Prof Osinbajo will address the conference on the “Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria” while Dr Okechukwu Enelamah, Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, will speak on “Investment and Partnership Opportunities in Nigeria”.

Mrs Yewande Sadiku, Executive Secretary, Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission, will make a presentation on “Investment Reforms in Nigeria”, and Ms Onyeche Tifase, CEO, Siemens Nigeria, will speak on “Impressions of Doing Business in Nigeria”.

Moreover, Mr Darl Uzu, CEO, Enyimba Economic City Development Company, will talk about the Enyimba Economic City, a Special Economic Zone in south-eastern Nigeria under the Made In Nigeria for Export programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The presentations will be followed by a moderated Q&A session.

Ambassador Ayo Olukanni, Director-General, Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, will discuss “Finding the Right Partners in Nigerian Industries” with Afrika-Verein.

Other activities scheduled for the Nigerian-German Business Dialogue include sessions on “Facilitating Agribusiness”, to be addressed by Mr Aliyu Abbati Abdulhameed, Managing Director, Nigeria Incentive-based Risk Sharing system for Agricultural Lending, and “Financing Investments in Nigeria”, at which Mr Samaila Zubairu, President/CEO, Africa Finance Corporation, will speak.

Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, Ambassador of Nigeria to Germany, will give the closing remarks at the one-day event.

Vice-President Osinbajo will also meet with German government leaders before returning home on Tuesday, 11 December.
