Ekiti State dancers storm Hungary for Nigerian celebrations

Dancers from Ekiti State have arrived Budapest to perform at the Nigerian independence celebrations taking place on Sunday, 6 October in the Hungarian capital city.

The Ekiti State Cultural Dance Troupe will entertain guests at the event which will showcase the rich and diverse culture of Nigeria.

Hosted by the Embassy of Nigeria in collaboration with the Ekiti State Government, the theme of the event is Arts, Culture and Tourism in Nigeria.

The event will feature a live performance by the Ekiti State Cultural Dance Troupe, a cultural doll exhibition by creative designer Bolatito Fatogun, a fashion show of dresses from different ethnic groups, an art exhibition and plenty of Nigerian music.

The Ekiti State Cultural Troupe members, led by Director-General, Ekiti State Council for Arts and Culture, Wale Ojo-Lanre, arrived in Budapest on Thursday for their performance on Sunday. Mr Ojo-Lanre lauds Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State for enabling the visit of the cultural dancers to Hungary and promised that his dancers would give a good impression of the cultural wealth of the state at the event.

Nigerians in Hungary have also praised the initiative of Ambassador (Dr) Eniola Ajayi of organising the event, which will be attended not only by Nigerians living in the country but also members of the diplomatic corps, Hungarian officials and ordinary citizens of the eastern European country.

The event will hold at the Balassi Institute located on Somlói út 51, 1016 Budapest. Doors will open at 3pm and the event will kick off at 3.30pm. More information about the event here.
