Femi Kuti and his band, the Positive Force, will rock the German capital city on Saturday 17 November in what organisers have promised will be a show to remember.
The eldest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, who started his musical career in the band of his father “Egypt 80”, will be performing live in Berlin for the first time in a long time to present his new album “One World One People“!
Femi started his own band, the Positive Force, in 1986 and began to establish himself as an artist independent of his father’s huge legacy.
The new album One People, One World (Knitting Factory Records/ 2018) sees Femi returning to Afrobeat’s African roots with hints of reggae, highlife, soul, R&B and other African, Caribbean and African American flavours. “When I was a boy, I listened to funk, highlife, jazz, folk songs, classical music and my father’s compositions, so you will hear those things in the music, but everything on this record comes strictly from my heart and soul,” Femi said.
Like his father, Femi has shown a strong commitment to social and political causes throughout his career and continues to fight for a better Nigeria.
