First-ever African Christmas Market opens in Berlin

Main features of the Christmas season in Germany are the charming fairs that decorate the country during this time of year.

From traditional handicrafts and quirky ornaments to tasty local delicacies and sweet-scented mulled wine (Glühwein), there’s absolutely nothing you can’t find in a German Christmas market.

This year Berlin will host the first “Afro-Lux Christmas Market” on 8-9 December. In addition to culinary highlights from different African countries, there will also be classic mulled wine to make the perfect fusion.

Various artists and vendors from Africa and the African Diaspora will present handmade clothing, jewelry, make-up, toys and other gifts. Here everyone will find the perfect Christmas present for their loved ones.

In addition to book readings and a children’s program in the morning there will be musical performances by Berlin’s own “Three Women” and “the String Orchestra” for entertainment in the evening. Come and you will be enchanted.

Afro Lux Christmas Market
From 12 noon on 8 December to 11 pm on 9 December
