Germany: Nigerian Community Bayern Elects New Executive Officials

The Nigerian community in the southern German state of Bavaria has elected a new executive committee to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years.

At the event, which took place in Munich on Saturday, 25 July, Kazeem Ojoye was elected the new chairman of the Nigerian Community Germany Bayern (NCBG) e.V.

Mr Ojoye, a former Financial Secretary of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Germany, succeeded Mr Emmanuel Onyeme, who had successfully completed two terms as leader of the group.

Others elected at the event, held at the African Centre (Afrikanisches Begegnungszentrum) in Munich, are Mr Charles Usifo as Vice Chairman,  Mr Lucky Osunbor (Treasurer) and Mr Wale Isioye (Provost).

Mr Kennedy Onyeke and Mr Onyenji Ogbodo retained their previous positions in the NCBG as General Secretary and Financial Secretary respectively.

Speaking after his election, Ojoye, who is also the Chairman of the Youth Enlightenment Empowerment and Self Sustainability Initiative – an NGO registered both in Nigeria and Germany, thanked members of NCBG for the confidence they reposed in him. The IT professional promised to promote the interests of Nigerians in Bavaria and pledged to acquire an office for the organisation where social support can be offered to members of the Nigerian community.

Ojoye also promised to restructure the organisation to attract more members as well as facilitate more employment opportunities for Nigerian students during and after their studies in Germany.

Moreover, the new chairman expressed his determination to foster unity among Nigerians in Bavaria irrespective of their ethnicity, religion and social standing, appealing to his compatriots to join hands with him to take the NCBG to greater heights.

The event was attended by representatives of Nigerian organisations in the state, including the Chairman of the Nigerian Community Augsburg, Mr Fred Sadadi, who represented the Nigerian Community Germany (NGC).

NGC is the umbrella organisation of the regional Nigerian associations in the country.
