The 2022 Ghana Cultural Festival in Germany takes place on 27 August in the south-western town of Mannheim.
The event, organised annually by the Union of Ghanaian Associations in Germany (UGAG), will be attended by distinguished guests including Ghana’s ambassador to Germany, HE Gina Ama Blay, and prominent Ghanaian chiefs in Germany, including Chief Céphas Kosi Olatidoye Bansah, the Togbe Ngoryifia of the Hohoe Gbi Traditional Area, and Nana Akwasi Afari I, a chief in Dawu, Eastern Region. Others expected to attend the one-day event are representatives of German organisations involved in development and cultural co-operation, diplomats and members of other immigrant communities.
The Festival, held for the first time in 2009, brings Ghanaians together to celebrate their cultural heritage and provides a bridge of understanding between Germans and Africans in general and Ghanaians in particular. The festival also provides a forum to promote Ghana as a tourist destination to Germans as well as a networking platform for businesspeople from the two countries.

The 2022 Ghana Cultural Festival will feature music, diverse traditional dancing displays, food, drinks and a bazaar. A colourful parade of Germany-based chiefs and queens from various regions of Ghana will be a major highlight of the festival.
UGAG, the organiser of the event, aims to promote unity among Ghanaians living in Germany and their effective organisation and mobilisation for the purpose of playing a positive role in the development of their home country. The organisation also supports the integration of Ghanaians into German society and serves as a link between the Ghanaian community and the Ghanaian diplomatic mission in Germany.
