Governor Obaseki in Germany, to Meet Edo State Indigenes

The Governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, will meet indigenes of Edo State living in Germany virtually and physically on Saturday, 4 June.

The physical meeting will take place at the Mercure Hotel in Berlin.

Governor Obaseki will interact with citizens of his state on issues of common concern. Many Edo indigenes in the diaspora have concrete suggestions on how things could better be done in their home state and the governor is ready to listen to them, organisers of the Hybrid Town Hall Meeting said.

The event is expected to be attended by leaders of Edo organisations in Germany as well as those of civil society groups dealing with cultural and migration issues.

The governor, who arrived on Monday, is in Germany to hold talks with German officials and companies to discuss areas of mutual collaboration.

“I began a series of meetings in Germany yesterday with key Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) of the German Government to discuss areas of mutual collaboration,” Governor Obaseki posted on his social media accounts on Wednesday.

“The meetings are facilitated by GIZ-Skye and will strengthen our existing partnerships in job creation, youth development, arts and culture as well as investments in industries and the productive sector,” he added.

“I also met with the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DHK) to discuss areas of partnership for investment and employment promotion in Edo State.”

The governor is expected to hold talks with German government officials on the return of Benin artefacts.
