“I did not disrespect Nigeria’s First Lady in my movie” – Annie Idibia speaks out in Berlin

Nollywood actress Annie Idibia has said that she did not disrespect Aisha Buhari, wife of Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, in a scene in Power of 1, a movie produced by Efe Omorogbe, CEO of Buckwyld Media Network.

The wife of Afrobeats legend 2Baba Idibia said this in an interview with Afrobizgermany, when the movie was screened at the Nollywood Films Travel Festival in Berlin, Germany on August 29, 2019.

“…I did not disrespect her in anyway. I just try to emphasize on what was right about women scorning other women or try to bring down other women. And it’s not just for that scene alone. Generally, women, we’re our own evil – they bring down themselves,” said Annie.

She added that, “I don’t know what you saw, but we showed what you need to know. And what you need to know is what we showed you.”

The movie, according to Omorogbe, is “to reawaken civic responsibility in every Nigerian – with the aim of effacing the mentality that the action of a single person does not hold much value.”  // Raphael Adenaike
