Kenako Afrika Festival rocks Berlin!

This year’s biggest African festival in Germany’s biggest city and multicultural metropolis has kicked off.

Taking place from 3 – 14 July, Kenako Afrika Festival was opened with an elaborate ceremony and a big concert by Abdou Day from Madagascar on Wednesday.

The 12-day event, featuring live music concerts, bazaar, children’s workshop, culinary, fashion shows and more, holds at the Alexanderplatz, right in the centre of Berlin.

While the annual event celebrates Africa’s colourful, multi-facetted and rich cultures, Kenako Afrika Festival, under the motto ‘Africa in Global Context’, also takes a serious look at the continent’s place in the world. The festival therefore features podium discussions on issues of African development and its relations to the rest of the world.
