Nelson Mandela: Official Exhibition opens in Germany

The official exhibition commemorating the life of South African freedom hero and global moral icon opens in Berlin on 19 October.

The new international touring ‘Nelson Mandela: The Official Exhibition’ was conceived with the collaboration of Mandela’s grandson, Nkosi Zwelivelile Mandela.

Curated from the extensive collections of The Nelson Mandela Foundation in Johannesburg and other sources, the exhibition, covering almost 700 square metres, features rare personal artefacts, film footage and documents in addition to audio-visual pieces.

“The exhibition features previously unseen film, photos and the display of over 150 historical artefacts and personal effects on loan from the Mandela family, museums and archives worldwide,” the organisers of the exhibition said.

“This unprecedented exhibition provides fresh insight into the people, places and events that formed his character and the challenges he faced.”

The exhibition promises a unique peek into the world that shaped Mandela’s life and journey, commemorating, illuminating and, most importantly, sharing his living legacy with the world.
