The Austrian chapter of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Europe (NIDOE) has elected Mrs Subrinah Ego Dolischka as its first female chairperson.
The NIDOE-Austria general election, conducted virtually on 27 March 2021, was well organised by the electoral committee under the chairmanship Engr Oluyemi Ogundele, a former chairman of the organisation.
The committee adopted the E-voting method due to the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown.
The new and the old: Mrs Subrinah Ego Dolischka and her immediate predecessor, Engr Smart Ifedayo Ogunbunmi
The chairmanship position was well contested with two prominent members of the chapter locking horns with each other. Dr Jacobs Edo, a one-time IT officer of NIDO Europe, and Mrs Subrinah Ego Dolischka, who was serving as the chapter’s events and social/welfare officer.
Coincidentally, Mrs Dolischka was the only female contestant on the list of members aspiring to serve the chapter in various capacities and she eventually won her election with wide margin.
Dr Jacobs Edo in his congratulating message promised to support the new chairperson to move the Austrian chapter and NIDOE forward.
Mrs Dolischka, a beauty entrepreneur, is the proprietor of Happy Hair Joy, a renowned black beauty salon in Vienna.
