Emeka Ihedioha in Germany, promises open Imo government

The newly-elected governor of Imo State, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has assured indigenes of the state that his door would be opened to them when he assumes office.

Speaking at a reception in his honour in Großkrotzenburg (near Frankfurt) on Saturday, Ihedioha, who will be sworn in on 29 May for a 4-year term, said the situation of Imo State requires that its people come together in a spirit of unity and co-operation for the task ahead.

The former deputy speaker of the Federal House of Representatives expressed his profound gratitude for the support he received from Diaspora Imolites (indigenes of Imo State) during the last election. And he promised that he would not disappoint the expectations of the people of the state.

Barrister Ihedioha, who was in Germany on a 5-day visit to also meet prospective investors and development co-operation partners, had attended a United Nations conference on SDG Global Festival of Action in Bonn, where he was one of the VIP speakers.

The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

The annual Festival, which held this year on 2-4 May, provides a dynamic and interactive space to showcase the latest innovations, tools and approaches to SDG advocacy and SDG action.
