Nigeria’s latest travel protocol, which will take effect from 5 December 2021, stipulates new rules for vaccinated and non-vaccinated travellers entering the country and updates the last one issued on 22 October 2022.
The Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19 revised international protocol for travel into Nigeria, stipulating that all travellers arriving in Nigeria, either vaccinated or unvaccinated, must present a negative COVID-19 test conducted not more than 2 days (48 hours) before boarding.
Under the new regulation, all incoming travellers – fully vaccinated or not, would be required to undergo a post-arrival Day-2 COVID-19 PCR test.
Moreover, the partially vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers are required to go into self-isolation; a Day-7 post-arrival negative COVID-19 PCR test is required for exit from the isolation.
The latest review of the protocol was necessitated by the omicron variant which has become a source of worry across the world.
