A Nigerian made film is making waves across the globe. After only five days of being available on Netflix, Blood Sisters has been viewed 11 million hours, putting the four-part series among the reigning Global Top 10.
The thriller has been been trending around the world with engaging social media conversations around themes.
The film’s director Biyi Bandele took to his social media handles on Tuesday to celebrate the glowing performance of his work.

“These numbers are huge even in the context of the shows on the list with higher viewing figures – Bridgerton, for instance, has been on there for 7 weeks. We’ve been there hardly a week,” Bandele wrote.
“Unbelievable that we are cracking the extremely tough North American markets with Blood Sisters in the top 10 of both the United States and Canada!” co-director Kenneth Gyang also commented.
“The series is already Number 1 in countries like Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica and Kenya and going strong in a lot of European and South American markets. Staggering!” he added.
Blood Sisters is a Netflix original production which means that it’s available only on the global streaming platform. The crime thriller series was produced by EbonyLife Production in partnership with Netflix.
Blood Sisters primarily tells the story of Sarah, a young woman who is set to marry a physically abusive man. Despite her best friend, Kemi’s objection, she goes ahead with the wedding, which leads to a series of unfortunate events.
“It’s a series that blends crime, thriller and drama elements to produce a simple but effective 4 episode romp,” writes a critic about the film.
Ini Dima-Okojie plays Sarah while Nancy Isime is Kemi in the film, which reinforces the reputation of EbonyLife as a leading producer of quality films in Africa.
