Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce takes off, appoints new president

After several years of efforts, the Nigerian-German Business Association (NGBA) has now transformed to a full-fledged chamber, conferring on the organisation more clout in its activities.

The transformation of the NGBA to the Nigerian-German Chamber of Commerce (NGCC) was announced recently by its Board.

Moreover, the organisation has also appointed a new President, Engr. Onyeche Tifase, who is also the Managing Director/CEO of Siemens Nigeria.

According to a statement from the Board of the NGCC, Tifase’s appointment was another milestone for the organisation as she’s the first female president.

The board expressed the hope that Tifase’s appointment would “further strengthen the leadership team of NGCC in discharging the Chamber’s mission to promote bilateral trade and enhance business sustainability for its members.”

Presiding over the first Annual General Meeting in her capacity as President recently, Ms Tifase expressed her commitment to the growth of the NGCC and appealed to members to support her as she continued the transformation agenda began by her predecessor, Mr Folabi Esan.

Tifase, a seasoned engineering professional, holds a BEng in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the University of Nottingham and a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

Tifase, who started her career with Siemens in 2001, made news headlines when she was appointed Managing Director/CEO of Siemens Nigeria in November 2014, the first Nigerian and first female to hold the position.

A non-profit membership organisation made up of German and Nigerian owned business enterprises, NGCC promotes increased bilateral business relationships between the two countries.

Established on 15 October 1986, NGCC offers a variety of general and sector-specific services to members and the general business community, including business advice, trade fair facilitation, visa facilitation, fact finding and market information and analysis.
