Nollywood comes to Frankfurt this weekend

The city of Frankfurt will again host the Nollywood Film Festival Germany (NFFG) and its sister event Nollywood Europe Golden Award (NEGA) on 8-10 September.

Some of the leading lights of the Nigerian and Ghanaian film industry will grace the festival. Among these is Naida Buari, the Ghanaian diva, whose new film “Deranged” will be premiered at the festival. Other stars expected in Frankfurt include Emeka Ike, Kenny Blaq and Zeez.

The yearly event, organized by Ehizoya Golden Entertainment e.V., features Nollywood film screenings, an award ceremony and networking opportunities for filmmakers.

Izoya, an award-wining culture manager who has been promoting Nollywood for nearly two decades in Europe, promised that this year’ NFFG/ NEGA will be grand. The festival will open with the first showing of “Diplomatic Strings”, a film directed and produced by Paul Julius.

The entertainment guru said NFFG is a viable platform designed for Nollywood filmmakers to showcase their work to Europeans and their Nigerian fans in the Diaspora and he calls for increased corporate sponsorship of the event.

Among the special guests expected at the event are African diplomats accredited to Germany, including Nigeria’s new ambassador to Berlin, Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Tuggar.

Major artistes, including Kenny Blaq and Zeez, will perform at this year’s award ceremony.
