3rd German-African Forum on Vocational Training & Education holds in Berlin

On 2 October 2024, the 3rd German-African Forum on Vocational Training & Education will be held under the theme “Boosting Future Skills and Partnerships for Sustainable Growth” at the premises of the Representation Office of North Rhine-Westphalia in Berlin.

The forum aims to address the global challenge of providing quality education for young people, a crucial step towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

Organised by Afrika-Verein, the event will foster collaboration between the public and private sectors to promote inclusive, equitable and high-quality education. Participants will explore current and future projects in Africa, with a focus on building sustainable partnerships to advance shared SDG goals. Afrika-Verein, also known as the German-African Business Association, is a foreign trade organisation that promotes economic relations between Germany and African countries.

“It is the event of the year for the African-German TVET and education community. The Forum creates a platform to share knowledge and best-practice about new and ongoing initiatives from, in and with (education) industry. It also aims to establish and foster strong and sustainable partnerships driving the common SDG goals,” the organisers, said.

Key topics to be discussed include education financing, international labor mobility and the future of vocational training. More than 130 participants from Europe and Africa are expected to attend, including ministerial delegations from Benin, Madagascar, South Africa, Djibouti, Malawi and Senegal, as well as non-ministerial delegations from Nigeria and Cameroon.

Representatives from Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and the European Commission will also be present.
