THE AFRICAN COURIER. Reporting Africa and its Diaspora! The African Courier is an international magazine published in Germany to report on Africa and the Diaspora African experience. The first issue of the bimonthly magazine appeared on the newsstands on 15 February 1998. The African Courier is a communication forum for European-African political, economic and cultural exchanges, and a voice for Africa in Europe.
Brussels Airlines gradually introduces its brand new Premium Economy class on its African routes. With 84 weekly flights and 17 destinations in sub-Saharan Africa, the African continent remains Brussels Airlines’ most important market.
Improved offer on African routes
In 2019, the Belgian carrier announced the retrofitting of its fleet with the concept of a Boutique Hotel above the clouds. On top of a new Business and Economy Class, Brussels Airlines also introduces its brand new Premium Economy Class. To better serve guests on African routes, the airline has started rolling out its brand new Premium Economy Class on its African flights.
As more retrofitted aircraft enter the fleet, the new class will gradually be rolled out to more African destinations (see a detailed schedule below). From mid-January 2020 on, Premium Economy Class is available on flights to and from Dakar, Banjul and Conakry.
Premium Economy introduction schedule
Premium Economy Class will be rolled out on the African routes as follows:
- 1 October 2019: Kinshasa (Democratic Republic Congo), Luanda (Angola)
- 1 November 2019: Kigali (Rwanda), Entebbe (Uganda), Bujumbura (Burundi), Freetown (Sierra Leone), Monrovia (Liberia)
- 13 January 2020: Dakar (Senegal), Banjul (Gambia), Conakry (Guinée)
- 1st February 2020: Douala and Yaounde (Cameroon)
- Mid-May 2020: Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Cotonou (Benin) , Accra (Ghana) and Lome (Togo)
More comfort and larger baggage allowance on flights to Africa
Premium Economy represents relaxation and privacy. In a separate cabin, with only 21 seats, the premium seats offer an increased amount of private space with extra legroom of 38″, which is 23% more than in Economy Class, and a generous recline angle of 40° (56% more than in Economy).
Premium Economy Class also includes a larger allowance of free checked-in baggage – with two bags of up to 23 kg each.
