Egbe Isokan Omo Yoruba Germany e.V. (EIOYG), the umbrella body of all Yoruba associations in Germany, is set to hold its National Congress and Omoluwabi Award Gala Night in Koblenz on Saturday, 23 November 2024.
The event promises a vibrant celebration of Yoruba culture and values, bringing together community members and distinguished guests from across Germany and beyond.
The Yoruba people, one of Africa’s largest ethnic groups, are renowned for their rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions and deep-rooted values. Originating from southwestern Nigeria and parts of Benin and Togo, the Yoruba have a long history of artistic excellence, philosophical wisdom and strong community bonds.
At the core of their culture is the concept of Omoluwabi, which represents virtues such as integrity, respect, accountability and compassion. EIOYG’s Omoluwabi Award celebrates individuals who embody these values, serving as role models within the community. This year’s gala will recognize their achievements while promoting cultural pride and unity.
“The National Congress and Omoluwabi Award Gala Night is a platform to celebrate our rich cultural heritage and honor those who uphold its values,” said Fatai Wilson, General Secretary of EIOYG. “We are excited to welcome our esteemed guests to this significant event.”
The evening will feature cultural performances, networking opportunities and the formal award presentation. It aims to foster unity and cultural pride within the Yoruba community while showcasing their contributions to the broader German society.
